How to prioritize a shared label

If you have a shared label that requires your team to have clear visibility on it, you can use some of Gmail’s tool to highlight it.

Example in which I use the “multiple inboxes” option:

I have a shared label called “Billings” and I also have a shared inbox called [email protected] with the ticketing workflow. Our team receives some emails in the shared inbox and I apply the shared label “Billings” on them. That being said I want one of my teammates in charge of billings to see them in his inbox. What you and your teammate can do is enable the Multiple Inboxes view

How to enable the “Multiple Inboxes” view

  1. Head to your Gmail Settings
  2. Click on the Inbox menu
  3. Next to Inbox type select Multiple Inboxes in the dropdown list
  4. In one of the sections, type “label:” followed by the name of your shared label. E.g. label:Billings
  5. Scroll down to save the changes

You can then further customize this view with the number of conversations to be displayed, its position, etc.

Once saved, you will be redirected to your inbox and you’ll see the shared label in there.
